Alex Shabadei

Alexander Shabadei was born in 1968 in the city of Simferopol (Crimea). He spent his childhood and youth in the seaside city of Kerch. From his first steps into the field of painting, Shabadei demonstrated significant personal development, earning himself high marks from teachers. In 1983, he graduated from the School of Arts of Serdyuk in Kerch with honors. Later that year, Shabadei entered the Crimean Art College of Samokish, one of the most prestigious specialized educational institutions of the Soviet Union. Shabadei was considered one of the most talented and promising students, even among names like P. Stolyarenko, F. Zakharov and V. Bernadsky, all of whom are well-known and valued all over the world. He graduated from college with a red diploma.

Alexander Shabadei is a bright representative of the classic Crimean school of painting. His unique and recognizable style has earned him the reputation as one of the most interesting modern Crimean painters. His ability to turn ordinary objects into something new makes one wonder if he can see the invisible when composing his work.

In his landscapes, the painter subtly expresses the harmony of his colors. He fleshes out the richness and romanticism of the sea space and the mysteriousness of the Crimean streets. In his still life paintings, complex combinations of color and texture make his work a spectacle to behold.

Alexander Shabadei has brought an invaluable contribution to the world of art, proving the inexhaustibility of the author’s vision, the professionalism of brush ownership, and the principles of painting, which he generously shares with the connoisseurs of his work.

In 2000, when he moved to Yalta, the streets, courtyards, old buildings, and beautiful seaside subdued the painter. Beyond that the mountains, cypresses, and magnolias left the painter much to feature in his work, so he decided to stay. There he worked in different genres of painting, but the leading themes in Shabadei’s work were landscape and still life, which allowed him to demonstrate confident possession of pictorial technique and a skillful use of color.

Today he works with galleries in Ukraine, Russia, the US, and France. From July 2004 until now, Shabadei’s work has been shown in the Wicklow Art Gallery (Ireland). He is a member of the International Plein Air Painters in Ukraine, France, Montenegro, and Lithuania. One may also find his work in private collections in France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Australia, and the United States.
